  • Yes it is normal to feel 'empathy';

    "2 : the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner; also : the capacity for this." - Merriam-Webster.

    BUT, it is not usually normal for a person to feel 'extreme' empathy, as you do. However, there is always a minority segment in society and some philosophies which espouse this.

    "Synonym discussion: adopt embrace espouse mean to take an opinion, policy, or practice as one's own. adopt implies accepting something created by another or foreign to one's nature <forced to adopt new policies>. embrace implies a ready or happy acceptance <embraced the customs of their new homeland>. espouse adds an implication of close attachment to a cause and a sharing of its fortunes <espoused the cause of women's rights>." - Merriam-Webster

    It is not usually normal to feel extreme empathy for non-sentient life forms, such as (but not limited to) plants and arthropods.
    It is important to learn and understand which life forms are beneficial to their respective natural environments (ecosystems), AND which ones are considered to be a 'weed', 'pest', or 'exotic and invasive species'.
    Please consider that by 'promoting' or not killing an exotic and invasive species, you are inadvertently killing other native species that belong to those natural ecosystems.
