  • If you're close enough friends with a guy that they feel they aren't risking their reputation or respect by admitting they're not made of stone, that's a positive thing. That doesn't make them weak, and you being taught not to open up doesn't make you strong. It might be awkward, but that's more because you don't know how to respond, you are the one lacking something - the confidence to express sympathy.

    It's a mentality you should probably grow out of, because at times most people, male or female, need to express the hardship, stress or anxiety they are feeling, and if you're never there in that capacity for any of your friends, they might not be there for you when you need them.
