I heard a while ago that it's possible to become addicted to your most common emotions; that each time you feel the same thing, those neural pathways become more deeply entrenched, or something (sorry can't remember the exact technicalities of this).
I had previously thought that sadness was something that I would have to endure to get out of my system. Now I'm not so sure. So when I notice these sort of feelings coming on, I try as best as I can to counteract them by focusing on other things.
I think you're dramatic. And some people like the feel because it can be passionate. Like, theres people that thinks its cool and edgy. But don't get content with it. Theres many more people that find it annoying to be around, and would think you're looking for sympathy.
I have bipolar 2 disorder which means I'm depressed more times generally than I am happy. I think you get used to being depressed because you can handle it a lot more than being happy. Sounds weird right? Anyways when you feel happy you probably feel normal and normal to you might mean complacent. I know from myself when I'm happy that it'll only last a couple of hours before I'm myself again. Feeling happy could equal to you not wanting to be normal, and if that's the case join the club you're not the only one.
P.S: I'm sorry you feel this way, try cognitive therapy to find out how your thoughts make out your reactions in life.
