  • I also doubted my Christian faith some time ago. That doubt led me to where I am today as an atheist who can accept the fact that I don't know some things about the universe and that's perfectly okay.

"I know Jesus died for our sins, I know He's coming back one day and I know I'll go to Heaven when I die"

You say that you know these various things, but all of them you have no way of actually knowing. You have faith in these things, not knowledge. The question it all seems to boil down to is: Is faith something that you actually want? Why should faith be acceptable for something so crucial when we demand so much more in every other aspect of our lives?

On an entirely different note, that doubt that you're feeling was actually encouraged by my church (Catholic btw). Believing something after questioning requires considerably more faith considering the evidence simply is not there.

Anyways, it's definitely normal to doubt your faith. If I remember right, 1/3 of people under 25 now identify as non-religious and that number seems to be climbing daily. I also recently told my family about being an atheist to discover that all of them (at least they say so) had doubts at one point or another.

One last note. If you think that becoming a Christian changed you for the better, losing Christianity would not make you into your old self again. You made those changes yourself, not the Christian God.
