For most of my life I didn't have any friends except my wife. During a 5 year period in elementary and high school I had 3 friends that I hung out with and did things with, but only one at a time. Over the years I've had a couple of coworkers (2, actually) that I became friends and hung out with. Maybe I'm too independent or self reliant. For sure most of my life I was a loner and didn't cultivate friendships. I have many acquaintances from work and business that I get along well with and feel friendly around them, but they're just that, acquaintances.
I would say it's probably normal to be like you, or I, but it's not good for us. To have friends one needs to BE a friend, and unfortunately I don't usually look at other people that way, like thinking to myself "what can I do for him/her, what do they need"? But, that's what friends do!
is it normal that i dont have any friends?
