Is it normal that i don't like to be touched?

I'm a girl in high school and my male friend in school frequently touches me and it makes me very uncomfortable. Right now, he has a girlfriend, and just yesterday, he grabbed my waist. Is it normal for guys to do this to their friends who are girls? I've told him to stop in a very serious tone, but he just finds it fun. Yesterday I got very mad at him for making me feel uncomfortable and I went to guidance on him. My guidance counselor is now going to talk to him along with his parents. Am I just overreacting or do others out there also feel very uncomfortable when people touch them? I feel like he is being disrespectful. What do you guys think?

  • YOU DID NOT OVERREACT!!!! I'm a high school teacher and know first hand how allowing some touching will lead to further touching. You did the right thing...you have to set the limits about yourself by yourself! Way to be brave.

  • From a high school student perspective, you overreacted. No one likes a snitch and you just brought up trouble with the school and his parents and this may or may not go on his permanent record and his girlfriend might brake up with him for touching another girl. I think you should have just talked to him and told him how you felt.

  • It's completely normal, I'm a guy and I despise being touched.

  • If it makes you uncomfortable then you have every right to make him stop.

  • It's normal. You've told him to stop and he didn't. It makes you uncomfortable and I think what you did is right. Hopefully he will learn to listen when people say things. Why would he even be touching you when he has a girlfriend anyways <.<

  • You way over reacted. He probably doesn't want to be your friend any more.
