No, people don't get married because of peer pressure. The get married because the are in love and want to spend their lives together. I never thought that needed to be explained to anyone.
If that were true the divorce rate wouldn't be as high. Many people get married because they feel like they have to, or should at this point in their life not because they've foind the one.
