Is it normal that i don't know how to swim

There are three modes of self-transport. Walk, swim and fly. Humans are capable of two of those. Why limit yourself to just one?

Seriously, learn to swim regardless of embarrassment. Swimming is almost as important as walking.

It's generally thought otherwise but, speaking from my own experience, when it comes to swimming, it's never too late to begin. I'm 21 now, and 3 years ago I positively hated anything that involved water deeper than my bathtub. Then my friends encouraged me and since then I regularly visit the local pool. You probably won't become the next Michael Phelps alright if you start now but it never hurts to try ;P

There's a beautiful lagoon here and I'm such a bad swimmer. I never venture farther than 50m from the beach

I suck at swimming too.. The weird part, I work at a sports complex with an olympic pool. Just never go there :P

yes it is in this day and age because of all the safety implications that take place these days when teaching someone to swim. the would rather have you drown than catch a cold bloody nanny state

One of my best friends doesn't know how to swim or drive so you're not alone. Unless you live in Waterworld (is that you Kevin Costner?) it's not imperative that you learn right now.

I can swim, but I hate it. I would only swim if I absolutely had to if not for the fact that my family likes to swim in their pool and I don't like to doo-doo on the party.

Swimming is a constant battle of life and death. If you exert too much, you drown, if not enough, you drown. Bah.

Swim or sink

I can't swim either. I tried to learn when I was a child, but I had a few traumatic experiences that caused me to develop aquaphobia and Thalassophobia.

I'm also 18 and can't swim. I have never been able to in the slightest. It is perfectly normal.
