      Pigpen in the Peanuts cartoon wanted friends just like me. Charlie Brown was Pigpen's friend.

        How true. But Brunette girl is controlling towards Charlie and yet, he ended up with her. He must be a sicker for pain.

          There's also that "little redheaded girl" that Charlie Brown has the crush on. Peppermint Patty is always up in his face and calling him "Chuck", but she's butch and he's not into her.

            I think the little redhead girl was actually based on someone the author knew.

            As a kid, I was big fan of Peppermint Patty. I think her friend that always called Charlie Brown "Sir" would have made a good match for him.
