Is it normal that i don't have many friends outside of school?

Well, I'm in high school and I have many friends at school, but when it comes to outside of the classroom, I don't hang out with anyone. Mostly every boy and girl that I talk to say that I'm attractive and I'm really cool, but no one seems to invite me over or out to parties. I do have one best friend though, or at least we say we are. We haven't really had that kind of connection, but I guess we just pretend because we have no one else. Even then she doesn't hang out with me outside of school. Everytime we make plans, she ditches me for her boyfriend. I'm not sure why I don't have many friends outside of school. It feels like my family even thinks I'm a loser because I don't go anywhere on the weekends, hardly. So is this normal and are there any tips you could share that will help me to get invited out?

    Be more assertive. People in this world are too greedy to invite you, so you have to invite them.

    Heyy. The people you're friends with, do they ever talk about doing things outside of school infront of you? if they do you should maybs invite yourself but not too desperately if you know what i mean? I think maybe you should start out with just small things like coffee or something, then gradually you'll get more confident and they'll start to notice you more and invite you out more. The "best friend" you talk about maybe you should say something to her about it? Don't be horrible or anything but just maybe mention it? :)

    I was like that too, you have to keep trying and if anything invite people out yourself, initiate a time to hang out. Sometimes it works right away, other times it takes longer. Also friends change as your life changes, my closer friends that I have now I never met in highschool, and one of them was totally opposite of me in highschool; she was the popular preppy kind while I was the weird loner. But we ended up going to college together for similar majors and connected on facebook, We've been best friends ever since.

    In school I have like lots of friends and people know what kind of things I'm into, what movies and books and stuff. But yeah... people talk about things in front of me but I'm not popular in school so I don't just ask them if I can come or whatever. It would be stalkerish. I don't really know what to do anymore and I googled this and found your question.

    This one day in December, we were on the bus back from some field trip, and this one kid asked where I lived around (like in what direction or whatever from the highway/pike we were on) and like why would they ask that for no reason? But then after that they barely talk to me in school. And now it's the middle of February. What happened?
