  • I think it's down to hormones rather than genetics. Women tend to have slightly less melanin (chemical that darkens skin and hair) than men of the same race/nationality. It's an evolutionary benefit that aids during pregnancy, because it allows for more vitamin D and calcium production.

    It is true though, most adult blondes are either fake or, if naturally blonde, then they enhance their blonde tone further. Most children who are born blonde darken with age. I was blonde until I was about 3 years old, now my hair is dark brown.
