Is it normal that i daydream about receiving medical attention?

Many people will look at this question and automatically assume this is a form of attention-seeking behavior, but hear me out.

For a long time, I've daydreamed about getting physically injured or becoming ill and receiving medical attention. Fainting particularly was something I thought about a lot growing up.

Now here's the disclaimer: in reality, I actually hate attention. Of any kind, really. I've been in the hospital and it's just awkward and unpleasant. Fainting isn't fun, either. But for some reason, I get this rush from imagining passing out and coming to in an ambulance or hospital even though I KNOW logically this is stupid and would likely be an unpleasant experience.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about here?

Is It Normal?

  • You probably feel embarrased by attention but actually like it....so hears a way to get attention without feeling guilty about it

  • I imagine stuff like this too. it doesn't usually involve me though. Usually just involves a person I made up in my mind. When I'm bored, I would imagine him dying in different way, like a unicorn stabbing him with it's horn or him setting himself on fire while in his underwear. Even the guy getting murdered by an undercover cartoon character who's pretending to be a real person.

The shit I daydream up is weirder than yours. But you're normal, so no worries.

  • "Many people will look at this question and automatically assume this is a form of attention-seeking behavior"

    ...because that's what it is.

  • Don't know what you're talking about, but if you don't actually want it to happen, but just feel some kind of rush from thinking it, I guess it's normal. I mean the things I think about that give me a rush would probably give most people a rush, but they aren't necessarily normal, so I guess this is normal. I really don't know.

    Hope my useless answer helped.

  • Maybe you just want the experience. The first and only time I fainted I was like "that was kind of fun." I didn't have to go to the hospital though. There are some things I just like experiencing, whether they are good or bad.

  • Same here. But i never imagine fainting, only like braking bones and stuff, and then being able to deal with it. In reality I'm not that strong, I'd probs just freak out.
