is it normal that I'd like you to tell me something?

  • The earth has two moons. The little one, Cruithne, isn't properly a moon but is a "companion" of Earth.

If you went swimming with piranhas, they wouldn't attack you. They're scared of humans.

Tigers have stripy skin, as well as stripy fur.

For the first twenty years of playing basketball, nobody thought to cut a hole in the basket.

Turritopsis nutricula (a jellyfish) is actually immortal and could live forever.

If a vampire fed once a month and turned their victim into a vampire, all humans would be vampires in 2.5 years.

Thank you to the British TV programme "QI" for nearly all of the above.

    • I wish U.S. had a show like that. All i see on t.v. Is fish tanks, pawn shops and people digging through others' trash. There are informative shows, but i question them.

      • There's a lot of rubbish TV here too. The more channels we get, the worse the standard of television. I don't understand how most of it gets made. I criticise the BBC (partially because you need to buy a license to own a TV and all the money goes to the BBC and not to any other channel) but because they're funded by the public, they do seem to have a responsibility to us rather than their advertisers. It's nice to see we're actually selling our TV now, as well, rather than giving it away. Maybe QI will end up on BBC America?

          • Yeah, I agree with you. Stuff like Snog, Marry, Avoid isn't for me. Russell Kane's version of "Is It Normal" was okay, though, and BBC3 will always have Family Guy going for it.

              • Apparently not. They're scared of anything the size of a human (that is alive... they will go for carcasses). A lot of the myth seems to come from a book Teddy Roosevelt wrote about Brazil. Weird, but true.

    • So if you cut up a turritopsis nutricula into a thousand pieces, will it still live?

      • Nah, it's potentially immortal but if you murder it, it's still dead. :/

    • I knew you would be the first to answer :) I was only aware of the piranha and tiger info.
