Is it normal that i cut my own hair?

My friends make fun of me for being cheap and always tell me that it would be better if I went to a professional. It's not like I do a terrible job, it always comes out nice and I get compliments. My friends even tell me it doesn't look bad, but for some reason it seems frowned upon to cut your own hair and people always react weird if I tell them I cut it. I just don't see the point in spending money on something that I can do myself free of charge. What do you think?

Edit: I am a girl.

I'd recommend any guy get $20 clippers off amazon. Most men's haircuts are almost stupidly simple to do. Can't say how women have it.

I have always done my own hair. The one time I let my mother talk me into going to a salon, I was miserable. The bitch didn't do what I asked. I wanted to put her scissors through her fucking eyes.

I cut my own hair, nothing fancy just a little trim every few weeks. Saves a lot in the end.

I think it's completely normal, as long as you know what you're doing.

If you're a guy, I think it's normal. My husband cuts his own hair, because he's in the military, and they need it cut every week. He saves at least $700/yr cutting his own hair. I think it's less normal for girls to cut their own hair, but if it looks good, go for it! I think it's very normal for girls to cut their own bangs in between appointments, though. I have lots of friends who do that, especiially with longer, side swept bangs.

There's nothing wrong with cutting your own hair. I used to dye mine purple and cut it myself. I was usually very careful with it. If I messed it up, it looked intentional because of what the color was. I got a lot of positive compliments from people.

Any time my hair gets too long i tie it in a ponytail and chop the end off. No reason to pay a barber to do something simple.

I hate going to the salon because I don't trust anybody with my hair and I hate the forced conversation so I watched some youtube tutorials on diy haircuts and cut it myself the past couple years. I don't like doing it though. I'd rather be able to get it cut by a pro quick, properly and in silence.

People usually go to a professional to get their hair cut because they think their hair looks choppy if they do it themselves. I don't really care so I don't see the problem with cutting your own hair.
