Do you really like the atmosphere in bars?
If you don't, you could find something different to do on weekend evenings - could you join clubs that interest you?
If you do enjoy these bars, go more often with your friends and get to know them more.
Or, if you are brave enough, have a drink for some Dutch courage, go in and see if you can get chatting to some strangers - you might find some new friends.
By the way, which country/city/town are you in? Of course, don't say if you don't want to, but I like to get an rough idea of a poster's location!
All the best!
I don't particularly enjoy them. They're loud and very crowded - you can't even move. Large groups of people are standing around everywhere, so if you aren't in a group you feel like a complete loser. There's no hope of ever finding a space to sit down. Carrying on a conversation is hard with a friend, and impossible with a stranger.
I guess part of the purpose of these walking trips is to maybe find someone else to talk to or something else to do. There seems to be little hope of that though.
I live somewhere on the east coast of the US, but I won't say where because I know a Maggie and I would be mortified if by some coincidence she turned out to be you and she was able to deduce who this was.
Is it normal that I could go out by myself but I don't feel like it?
