Is it normal that i constantly think about my pointless existence?

Everything I do,say, think, and experience won't matter(other than eating and reproducing which will prolong the human race) because in the end I will die and eventually be forgotten. So it will kind of be like I never existed. So why do anything if I don't exist in the end? Is it normal to think like this? Are there others? What should I do?

You can take it the other way as well. Be happy about your pointless existence.

Most people who are remembered in history have had a dramatic and lasting impact on society. Hitler, Stalin, Attila, and Caesar will always be remembered for being a bit on the bad side history. The good people have to be really fucking good to get an honorable mention. (Mother Theresa, Ghandi, Galileo) I don't think escaping the radar is such a bad thing.

Think of it in movie terms. Even if you aren't playing the lead role, the extras still need to be there to make the film complete. Even the person who makes the food that the actors eat play their role.

You exist and will always have existed. Whatever you think of yourself, you will always have been.

As far as im concerned: no god and no meaning. However give yourself meaning the best way to do that is do something good find some thing new in something interesting to you. Life means nothin, it's all for the shits and giggles. Just step back look at you life and think "why not try something different", and think after I die no one will care, however if I do good at my job 2.5 million people will have power tomorrow. Not one will think "wow thanks Logan, nor will my name mean any thing to any one. But if I keep going I impact millions of people. And you do to and if you don't, change something. Or maybe just doing one nice thing for one person you see will make you way more important than anyone famous, no singer or artist will have an effect like doing one nice thing will have, hell you could save someone's life just by doing one nice thing.

Ive been struggling with this myself lately. The past month has been a horrendous trial on my mind, on my sense of self, trying to find meaning, purpose. Its as if everything I stood for suddenly collapsed beneath me. The days can be hard, but they seem to be getting better as I sort things out.

The thing I hold dear to is this idea: that even if god does not exist, there are people here, people that I love dearly who love me, people I can share and grow with. There are experiences! There are things to learn, problems to solve, things to be in awe of, to enjoy and its a preposterous notion to think there is nothing for us, no meaning or purpose we cant create on our own. Despite the harshness of some truths, remaining in a depressed state and wasting your time, a chance youve been given to experience life, is a poor choice. Every choice you make effects the whole of humanity, no matter how insignificant it may seem. Do what you can to stay positive, realize youre not alone. This stage can be quite stressful because it robs you of energy and makes you feel powerless...it will take time to rebuild a sense of yourself and what and why you are, dont get frustrated, and dont opt out. Tomorrow is another day, and a chance to feel/experience something different, to grow and to heal.

How about living to make life better for those around you? Those you can have an effect on I mean. It's very fulfilling

Ha! That's really weird. I just posted a similar question.
I think it's normal.. but I'm probably not normal anyways, so idk....
but the truth is- there's no point to living...

I always think about the point of civilization and technology. I mean, it won't matter at all in the end. Why can't we just live like cavemen? If you win the spelling bee, no one is going to remember you after you all die anyways.
    This feeling comes and goes.

i know exactly how u feel. im like that on a daily basis. heres my advice. no one has a pointless existance. NO ONE. yes were all gonna die someday. but before we do why not make an impression on the world that generations to come will see? u can do anything u put ur mind to. show everyone what ur made of and how special u are. u can do great things. stay positive. help people. be a kind person. its whats gonna make this a world a better place in the future
