  • Having many sex partners increases one's chance of getting some STD, not to mention the drama involved.

BTW, about the time we hit 13 or 14, yes, hormones are raging like hell and we think of little more than sex. That is something we cannot "pray away".

Good news is, as we age, we gain more control over it.

    • Were talking about happiness here not STD's. I stand by my claim. Polygamy isn't bad for everyone it's just not for everyone. Novelty is huge for some poeple and I don't know if you guys understand that.

      • Sorry about the misunderstanding. I agree that correlation is not close to the validity of causation. But causative evidence in psychology is very hard, in some cases impossible, to design experiments for. You are better off selecting sample sizes large enough to give you a high degree of accuracy for the observed degree of correlation you are testing for.

You raise a good point about personalities not suited to monogamy. A hypothesis pertaining to this group of people would be useful to give better perspective to your claim. I'm no expert, but I've read about swinging lifestyles where couples look forward to swapping partners, especially at lifestyle swinger resorts.

You might enjoy vacationing at one of them. Get naked, sit down nude at the poolside bar for a drink. See what happens.

        • Lol it's good buddy. Causative evidence on this subject is about impossible and we need to realize that. I just don't think we should ever say "polygamy is bad" because we can't tell for sure. And there is at least one person in the world who enjoys polygamy so we know its a case by case issue. But most people should go for monogamy and I sincerely wish that's what my body wanted honestly but some people are better off avoiding committed relationships when their young.

          • There was a show called "Real Sex" that had a variety of short reports on interesting stuff like this. I saw one of them on polyamory, which sounds like what you're talking about. It honestly looked like 24 hours a day of jealousy management. The most well adjusted multi partnered people seem to be swingers.

Anyway, good stuff to think about if you are looking for a research project for graduate psych credits.

            • Funny you bring that up I was almost a psych major and they have that at my school. I think I'll pass though.
