Is it normal that i can't stand unambitious women?

I'm a 23 year old female in my first real professional job after graduation. Some of my female coworkers are unambitious and didn't go to post-secondary. They're happy and comfortable at a job where they can chat and do the same thing week after week. They don't update their skills or have any plans for the future. They are really nice and good people. But I find that it really bothers me that they don't care about their careers, growing and moving forward even though it's technically not my business to care about what they do in life. Is this normal?

I'm guessing you have missed the point of life, whereas your coworkers haven't. What's wrong with being "happy and comfortable"? Living stress free and having a life beyond their work, seems infinitely preferable to becoming a big shot with lots of health problems and money, but alone and empty. Most of the very rich, career driven guys I've worked for have not been particularly happy folks. Not an enviable life in my mind.

Meh ambition is overrated. If we were all lazy there would be no wars!

But we'd also all starve to death or be buried in our own garbage.

that was kind of a joke...Im not lazy enough to starve I do have a job, just lazy enough not to bother anybody or be ambitious.

Does it really have anything to do with you?

Don't waste your time being concerned about it, and just accept them as they are.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Life is about self-actualization - achieving the "flow" of working at the highest of your abilities. I've been there and it is truly awesome.

Don't worry, there will be plenty of time for a rocking chair or a rocking boat when you retire early.

Life's too short, I think there's ambitious people who follow their dreams and live life to the full, then there's people who are just career driven and business obsessed, and will die with unlived dreams in their veins.

I think that one needs some wisdom to understand that each of us is different and to be able to accept that. You should just try to be happy your way. Some people have other ambitions that have nothing to do with building a career. I'm sure that with age you'll gain enough maturity to understand this. Right now you are young and I can't blame you for that.

I went through this. I was delivering pizzas which was a relatively easy job and you make good money. But I dont want to be a pizza boy forver so I handed in my 2 weeks. As soon as everyone heard that they started calling me stupid and telling me I wouldnt be able to find a better job. But me personally I just wanted to progress and move on. And im a single 23 year old(soon to be), being criticized by men between 30-50 years old supporting wives and children. But hey as long as everyones happy where they are why lose sleep over it.

It ought to be easier for you to climb the ladder then, right? Perhaps your motivation will challenge their mundane workday.
