They didn't grow up around it and don't understand that a lot of us "lazy speakers" can switch back and forth between formal and slang. The word "ebonics" sounds so rank and distasteful to me, which is probably why it's their default word to slang.
To me it's tiring to constantly speak formally, but I can do just fine in a proper setting. "I don't have no" in formal speak is still a tough one for me to understand. Can you explain it? As far as slang goes the double negatives cancel out and it means "I have none."
