I think the biggest problem I have with "ebonics" which is just a fancy name for ghetto speak, is this: when black people were slaves they spoke improper English because their owners didn't want them to learn anything or sound intelligent. they couldn't even learn to read for Gods safe. So why would you want to talk in a way that came from slavery and ignorance and being oppressed? Youd think that if your ancestors were slaves youd want to rise as far above that as you possibly can. I know a few black intellectuals, and when on was accused of 'talking white" she said "Ill be damned if Im going to talk like Mammy the slave".
