Is it normal that i can't stand affection?

Beginning about 2 years ago, I've hated affection. I hate it when my parents/family/friends hug me. I hate it when people tell me they love me, and if I have to say it in return (even if I do love them.) The only type I can tolerate is my dog and my 5 year old niece. I love my friends and family, but all of it makes me really uncomfortable and angry for absolutely no reason. Is this normal? HELP!

UGH i hate being told im loved or even hugging someone. I just feel uncomfortable. Even thanking someone, or complimenting them, i feel as if i sound stupid for saying it and i look weird saying it...what's wrong with me....

i'm dating a girl at the moment, and i really do love her, but the only reason why we don't go out is because she can't stand being in relationships and being told she's loved, even by her female mates. you'll grow out of it, trust me, until then it's a lonly road, unfortunally.
you could always tell people that you don't like to be hugged and stuff, and they'll stop doing it and let you live your life and stuff

I wasn't keen on affection at all when I was a kid. I think it came from my dad who was about as cuddly as a cactus. I got over it slowly because life is genuinely easier when you fit in with other people (even if at first you're only pretending).

I'm with you on dogs, though. I can't be in the presence of a dog (or cat) without being affectionate in an entirely natural way.
