Is it normal that I can't pull my foreskin back?

  • Your foreskin should be able to stretch back behind the head of your penis. It's a fairly common problem if you're unable to, but it often makes sex painful or very uncomfortable.

At birth, the foreskin is fused to the head of the penis to prevent it from infection. Around the time of puberty, the foreskin should become detached from the head until it can be easily pulled back. In some cases this does not happen or happens late, or the foreskin remains tight even if it is no longer fused or even partially fused to the head.

Are you able to pull back your foreskin at all when you're not erect? This should be much easier than when you are erect.

I had the same problem in the past, and I found I was able to pull my foreskin further back slightly when I was erect while I was in the shower, because the skin is warmer and more pliable. I stretched it back every day in the shower while erect to stretch the foreskin, and I was able to get it a little further back each time, until a month or two later I was able to fit it right behind the head quite easily.

That was just my experience though. You can go to a doctor if doing this doesn't help, and they can give you better advice. Circumcision is usually considered the last resort unless you specifically ask for it.

    • There was another post like this one and a user advised to use Johnson baby oil.

      • That sounds like good advice to me. It's nice and slippery so should do the job, plus you don't need to feel self-conscious when you're buying it in a shop like you would if you bought lube or something specifically designed for using down there! D:
