You lack confidence my friend. You must work on yourself before you can work on a relationship that involves two people.

Also, it's not about how you look; it's about how your perceive yourself. My suggestion is to start small. Engage other people in some social event. What's your interests? Find a venue that encourage your interest. There will be other people there.

Don't go looking for love. Go looking to interact with other people; make friends. This will build some confidence. As your confidence grow you can reach out for a relationship.

Do not rush things! Allow things to grow naturally. You're important. You're somebody. There's people in this world that could use your help in dealing with what your dealing with. Concentrate on other people and not focus on yourself unduly. Everyone on this planet is one way or another looking for validation from someone. Be that validation for others. You never know what friendships can grow.
