Is it normal that I can't live without marijuana?

  • Well I see so far commenters don't seem to know very much about cannabis. Technically it can be dangerous to use anything as medication that's not perscribed, however with issues of legality being what they are, what's a person to do?

People all around the world use weed for medicine. You vaporize as well so you're not getting the harmful effects of the smoke as nothing is being burnt. While it may be a bit of a codependant thing isn't the same to be said about people on antidepressants, or stomach pills, or any kind of medicine that you'd be worse off without? Just because one is illegal and psychoactive doesn't change the medicinal value of it.

I also use weed to medicate. I have acid reflux disease and a failing galbladder, I take acid pump inhibitors but they just take the pain away, they don't help me eat. I lost about 40 pounds when I had an ulcer and my stomach was really bad (seeing as I started at 145 or so I didn't really have much fat to lose) and the only thing that stopped the weight loss and made me able to eat again was smoking.

Of course it's possible to be addicted, but you could just as easily be addicted to video games, porn, fast food.... it's all the same, addiction to cannabis is purely psychological; quitting doesn't cause a real withdraw. You may feel less hungry or less sleepy upon quitting but that's not necessarily a sign of addiction, it's simply the effect of not imbibing something that had those side effects attached to it already.

I would say if you're only smoking in the evenings, getting all your work done and have your life together, you're fine. Lives are destroyed when you forsake those other things soley for the drug, not when you're a functional user.
