It's the same thing as having a best friend for a few years and all of a sudden they find someone new and stop talking to you. You're not just gona leave it like that, I think you'd like to know why..
Nah! I've had it happen to me over the years and I don't pursue them. I regard it as their loss so I'm happy to let them go. You just make yourself inferior to them if you chase after them. I understand that you deserve any explanation but some people are just selfish so pretend you don't care and that means you haven't been hurt - even if you have.
He's just moved on and found a new toy. Once he's bored he may well come back - providing there's been no major disagreement. This is what he seems to be avoiding!
Is it normal that I can't leave it like that?

That's the problem with females - they always want to talk it out! Men just move on and close the lid on that box.
Just accept that and let him go. You're able to see the facts with your own eyes.
