And this question has been asked before. At least four or five times a week. You honestly think that this is special in the world of humanity? People kill each other all of the time, steal from each other, discriminate against each other, CEOs make decisions that have put millions out of jobs and they still sleep soundly at night and you wonder if you're somehow special for not having feelings for others? If anything, you're part of the majority.
Sorry if I offended you, but he asked if it was normal and my point was that, with a little brainpower, anybody could see that a lack of concern for one's fellow man isn't special in the world of humanity. It's very common.
No it isn't, this type of behaviour is relatively unusual, the vast majority of people will quickly rush to someone's aid if they are in distress, even if they don't know them, it's a natural human instinct, which is evident if you've ever seen how people react to an accident or someone getting hurt. The examples of cruel behaviour you gave (corporate negligence, murder, stealing) are either motivated crimes for personal gain or in the case of most murders, an emotional impulse, none of which bear any relation to the poster. He is talking about his own pathological lack of empathy, sadism and disbelief in morals and altruistic actions which, if true, isn't normal or common. People on this site get instantly pissed off whenever they see a post about psychopathy or misanthropy and seek to trivialise and demean the posters instead of saying something useful or individual to the post. I understand where you're coming from, but the person who wrote that isn't a homogenous glob of everyone who's ever written a post like that on this site, he's just a teenager wondering why he doesn't work like he's supposed to
I am very well aware of violence/empathy in our current society, but historically violence and lack of empathy for others has been (and for many countries, still is) the natural course of things. Globalization and education seems to have gifted humanity with a sense of empathy that we have never had before, but that does not mean that the vast majority of people, period, have completely integrated into the ideal of empathy for others that our society has self-imposed on itself.
Cooperation is nothing new, it is, in fact, proven to be the best method of survival and therefore will be adhered to, but that does not necessarily prove that the vast majority of individuals in OUR society give a legitimate fuck about each other. That just proves that we know how to survive.
