Is it normal that i can't drink beer

I think I might be allergic to beer, I'm 18 and I've been drinking for quite a few years, and I'm fine with any other types of alcohol (except wine but that's just because I don't like the taste) but when I drink beer it makes me throw up after about 10 minutes and has a really bad effect on me. So is it possible to be allergic to beer but no other alcohol? It's pretty embarrassing because when I go out with my mates I look like an idiot drinking vodka and coke or something whilst they've all got pints.

  • Hm.. Idk if that means you're allergic, though I can't drink beer cus it upsets my stomach way too much. Never liked the taste too much either

  • I think that you are allergic to the hop, which is difficult to find in other alcohol or may be the Yeast. Look for by elimination, make a list of all the ingredient you know you had already met and eliminate as one goes along.

  • Beer has a very strong fizz and some people's bodies aren't used to that much all at one time and i have exactly the same thing with beer, i think it's because it's just waaay too fizzy and i have a few and then feel sick because of the fizzyness, don't suffer and drink beer thinking you'll look cooler, drink what you want and have a good night out instead of chucking up your guts "looking cool" about an hour before..

  • My best friend can't drink beer, although he used to when we first met. It makes him sick so he drinks cider now. It's normal enough for him. Bit annoying when we're in an unfamiliar place, though, because not only will he only drink cider, he'll only drink one brand. If the pub doesn't carry it, he sulks until we move somewhere else.
