Is it normal that i can't distinguish dreams from my memories?

Sometimes when I need to remember something, usually a memory like an experience or something, I can't remember if it actually happened to me or it was a dream? I usually forget my dreams, but I guess they do stay in my memory or something and I only remember them when is least convenient or something.

This only started to be a real problem lately when my dreams started to become more realistic for some reason; before this issue, they were so absurd I could easily tell what was and wasn't made up in my mind. This problem never even occurred to me ever, and I didn't even know it existed until it started to happen to me. But this never happens if I have physical evidence of something, like for instance I had a dream I was selling my cats, and I actually could not remember when I woke up if it actually happened the day before, or I just dreamed it. I literally had to go check and see if I still had both my cats (I would never sell my babies).

I have no idea why this could happen and nobody I know irl is any helpful, so what do you guys say? Is it normal for my dreams to troll me like this?

  • There's only one situation that I can't distinguish. It was from my early childhood.

I have this all the time. I am a really light sleeper so whenever my mom barges into the room and tells me to do something or another, I never can figure out if it happened at all or if I just dreamed it up. Its really odd.

Gosh, I dunno. I have had some very vivid dreams. It's like I have a whole second life in my dreams.

I don't mix them up by I tend to remember my dreams better than the recent facts and conversations I've had. The dreams are far more interesting to me. It's like I live a movie every night.

Whenever the dreams are boring and I work during them I tell my bosses they owe me overtime! Never got paid, though. :/

I think it's normal unless you start to confuse the absurd dreams. I was convinced I was a murderer on the run for a while after a bad dream.

I've been going through this lately too. My friend called it lucid dreaming. I spent an entire week thinking my boss and I had a conversation but it never took place.

I have also had dreams where I wake up certain I got drunk, but there was no evidence to that, and deduction showed it didn't happen.

Did you recently quit drinking or make a huge change in your life? That's what I am chalking it up too.

I sometimes wake up sure I didn't get drunk, but then evidence tells me otherwise.
