Is it normal that i can't act black

Okay here is the thing I just came from Africa to the US and noticed that me as another black guy not listening or having the taste for hip hop and rap while listening to almost every other music genre. This has made other black people and some white people just double back when they realize that. Because of this I am feeling a little bit alienated so anyways is it normal for me as a black guy not to have any interest what so ever on that specific music genre

Yes, like what you like, be who you are. Some Americans can be quite stupid regarding what people are supposed to be like due to their race. I say that as an American. I don't like hip hop or rap either.

Dude you're "blacker" than those fools anyway, you're from Africa !! You are the real-deal, original, if people think you need to follow trends to be "black" they are not worth your time.

There is no such thing as "acting black", just like there is no such thing as "acting white".

Be who you are, like what you like, and form friendships and relationships based on your interests rather than arbitrary physical aspects.

And if they don't like it? Fuck 'em. It's #CurrentYear (lol), we should be past this tribalisation of races by now.

Be who you want to be. Don't pay any attention to their nonsense.

Act like however you naturally should. Don't let their culture pressure bog you down. It's normal to have your own music preferences.

Tell those stupid, racist people they can kiss your ass, because you're from Africa!
