It's likely your friend is getting hit on more often than you because she acts available where you act unavailable. Guys respond to that- they don't want to get rejected. They'll go with safe more often than hot if they have to choose. Simple fix; Act available, responsive, receptive, etc. Really though, it all depends on what your hoping to come across as.
