Is it normal that i can remember smells as if i'm currently smelling them?

Whenever I smell something that stands out over a most other smells I remember it. Sometimes its not a good thing. For example, a little over a week ago I was driving home with my dad when we ended up behind a garbage truck. The smell was awful. I'm getting sick to my stomach now just thinking about it because whenever I think of it the smell ends up in my head. While it isn't always this bad, (remembering the smell of sitting by a campfire with my family for example.) it can be awful at times. Can everybody smell things like this? Is it just me? Thanks.

I believe so. This is an ancient part of the brain we're accessing. It's been doing that very same function for as long as humans have been around.
