Is it normal that i can barely hear after flying?

Every time I've flown on an airplane, gum and swallowing doesn't keep my ears from popping. They still pop repeatedly, even while in the air. Then when we land, my ears pop really loud and then get 'stuck' that way and feel like they're clogged up really bad, like how they get sometimes when one gets sick. I can barely hear a thing for several hours after the flight! Then suddenly it goes away. Is this normal and why does it happen?

  • You've got nothing to worry about :D My do the same. It's just because of the high altitude. Plenty of people have this same reaction. Hope it helped :D

  • That happened when I went to Belfast on a college trip, they were still in a low volume when we went bowling at 9pm on the first night. but it didn't hurt like that coming back into Liverpool

  • Mine do that too!! Sometimes I can't hear well for a couple of days...and they really hurt during the flight. Try some "earplanes"
Specially made earplugs that are made for equalizing the pressure. They really do help.
