Is it normal that i bite my knuckles?

For the longest time since I can remember, I've always bitten my knuckles. By doing this, my knuckles have swollen. They've reduced in size, but still not to their original state. I used to do this A LOT. I've cut down quite a bit since then, but I still want to know if it's normal or not.
