Is it normal that i binge then starve?

Hi, I'm 5ft 3, 12stone and want to be 9 stone at the most! I've had eating problems for about 4 years. it started off just dieting,but now its turned into me either binging or starving-i cant be in between. I'm in a constant cycle of fasting and binging. Now binging has been worse than ever so am huge. I've tried 1500 cal diets, 1200 cal diets etc but they've always left me binging. They dont work because everything apart from fasting/starving(eg no more than 500 cals) sets off a binge. for example, at the moment i have a binge day once a week then the rest of the week fast or eat less than 500.(i am losing weight doing this)how normal is this sort of diet? are there many people out there like me? how do they deal with this cycle? tyx

  • I have that same problem u are not alone I started out at 135 and dropped to 115 pounds and maintained it for bout a year and realized I have a disorder and I'm back to being. Bout 125 130 my doctor said I was malnourished and Other things yes it still bothers me the whole weight thing but I'm at a better place than where I was when I tried dropping to 100 pounds it is an on going battle everyday but when I would only eat 500 cals a day i lost wait but I considered myself to have an eating disorder I watched my mother go thru it and thought thought it was just how things were and realize my mother has had a eating body dismorphic Disorder and I learned thru That I just need to be happy and love myself

  • Hey....I have the same problem. I either binge which is usually on my period or I'm starving myself. I tried eating normal but everytime I try....at the end I binge. I use to weight 215....and I was FAT...but now I weigh 150...and I'm only 10 pounds away from my goal weight. I'm actually gonna fast to lose the rest of it...and it helps that I'm a vegatarian. But the cycle is getting on my DAMN NERVES....I've tried to stop...but I think my body is jst so use to it....and its not normal....its actually an eating disorder....but try not to get to the point when u c ur bones...but I can't stop this cycle...I tried so many times...so I'm jst gonna go how I feel that day

  • Its not a good ideal to do that! it takes 3,500 calories to gain a pound. I am guessing you are female. Start by eating 300 calories less then you usually do, you will lose weight. Then after awhile move down to eating only 2,000 a day. For a dramatic weight loss eat 1,200 cal a day, go to SparkPeople fittness.com. Find a workout, workout three times a week. and walk almost everywhere you go. I do that and i weigh 104. Im 5'2 and said ot be weighing 108-110. Buthe doctor said i was healthy.

  • Just cutting your calorie intake to a stupid amount wont help you loose weight infact it will slow your metabolism down to the point where your body will actually try and hold on to the stored fat. My body fat is close to single digits and im 75 kg and 5ft 11. Ive acheived this by traing correctly eating frequent small protein based meals and cutting out saturates and sugars.
