Consciousness(or the soul if you prefer) is energy, and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. After we die, our energy will return to the greater consciousness(nature), and so in that sense, we never die.
and once this day has all passed away,
one day when there's no longer such thing as a day
the fact that we stood here this day in the hall
the fact that it happened
is all and all......
