Some parents think that they have full control over their children but it is not true. Society has much more control and as soon as the child goes to kindergarten that little community will take over the preference thing. You might want to raise a girl as a Tomboy, but as soon as she sets foot in a somewhat open and influencing environment she will spiral toward the more common roles and likes. There is no such thing as a unisex child.
What if your SO doesn't agree with your parenting style?
The best course of action is to show the child the other side but not in a forceful way. Show the boy how cooking is done, show the girl how to build a furniture, but leave the child room. Teach but don't command. As they grow up they will remember what you have taught and they will appreciate it.
IIN that I believe kids should not be raised to gender specific roles?
