Boys and girls gravitate towards different things of their own choosing. I won't say there aren't parents that don't push gender roles on to children, however put a toy truck and a doll infront of a boy and a girl, and usually the boy will like the truck and the girl the doll.
Although I agree that we should be more accepting of people that deviate from their traditional gender roles, kids are not developed enough to understand the pros and cons of the decisions in such a subject, and if anything should be taught what the gender roles are (clothing, etc), however not forced in to them, all while raising that child the way society understands (as in a boy won't go in to nursery in a skirt, etc). They don't understand these behaviors deviate from the norm, and making them too used to it will make them grow up doing it more in a society they would end up hiding it from.
I think children should be taught what the gender roles are, however not have them forced on them, then at a certain age where they can consider the issue with a more sound mind, then should make their decision.
IIN that I believe kids should not be raised to gender specific roles?
