Unfortunately it's not something that can easily be 'abolished'. It's deeply ingrained in our society, even down to our colour preference (pink for girls, blue for boys).
I think each generation has redefined masculinity and femininity, and it's progressing towards a more even playing field.
I doubt we'll ever shake off prescribed gender roles entirely, but it would be nice to live in a society which accepts men who aren't emotionless, tough protectors and women who aren't maternal, submissive figures. And allows children from a young age to explore their own gender identity freely.
IIN that I believe kids should not be raised to gender specific roles?
