Everyone "beats it" to something. Sometimes the something we beat it to cannot be easily explained. The only reason it feels abnormal is because it is different, people are sometimes intimidated by difference and thus they are unkind. In time, I think once all the hooplah about furries dies down, people will not give it a second thought.
