Is it normal that I avoid people I know in public for no reason?

I cannot stand seeing people I barely know, like from school or work whatever.

I have an illegitimate and estranged supposed "half-brother," (long story) and he lives in the same apartment complex as me, by the exit gate, and I see him a lot and I avoid him at all costs and he called me out the other day when my friend forced us past him. Fml.
