I do this all the time. Well, not everytime, just a lot. I did it in highschool when my teacher (who I kinda crushed on) would always say hello to me in the hall when we passed eachother. After a while I just would pretend to not notice them so I wouldn't have to say HI in return. I was affraid they were starting to flirt with me and I didn't think I could resist flirting back. I didn't want to confuse the teacher/student relationship.
But ya. I do this sorta thing in other situations too. I think it's normal.
