If you have overall fitness and do overall exercises I am surprised you can't. I used to be able to do sit-ups all night long, but not many push-ups, so I just started to do push-ups in batches of 10, and gradually built it up to 100 per night.
You could try something similar?
Is it normal that i am very fit but unable to do sit ups?
