What country are you in? That would be a very rare incidence to be a young girl who has killed a cow. My husband grew up on a cattle ranch and has never killed a cow, the processor did that.
It's quite normal for farm kids to get involved in all aspects. Having a processor to come in, sounds like your hubby's cattle ranch was some industrial scale thing rather than a normal farm.
It isn't a very large operation, not government subsidized no. It's a specialty ranch for grass fed beef. But typically in the US even the small scale cattle ranchers don't actually process their own cattle. And children of these ranchers are raised to respect the process of raising a healthy cow. My husband was bonded to many cows growing up but accepted that they eventually had to meet their fate. When he became an adult he realized he didn't need to accept that fate and is now a vegan because of his past.
I'm in America but this was as a kid In Australia.
It was at my dads mates, he may have been a processor. Idek. It was a life lesson. I probably didn't kill it outright but was led to believe it as a little girl. Regardless her argument is false cause I have killed and plucked chickens for dinner, which I think was her point.
I cut this rats head off once that I brought from the pet shop. I brought the big white rat home after paying cash money, and used my fillet knife to despatch him {which I use for fishing} I just severed it's head from it's body in two clean swipes then I threw the body out onto the deck to bleed out cause it started spraying blood out of it's neck. I had dermestid beetles so I needed it to feed them.
Is it normal that I am a vegan?
