Is it normal that i am a christian who doesn't like church music?

My dad likes to play church music but I don't enjoy it. He even hums, whistles, and sings-a-long sometimes. Whenever we're driving in the car I seriously wish he would change the station or just turn it off altogether.

  • Ditto!!!!
I hate it. It sounds like something you would sing when someone dies. long drawn out, no tune or good beat. It sucks!

  • Yes, it's normal. There are some groups I like that are "christian rock" like flyleaf, even though I'm not of the Christian faith.

I don't like gospel, I have a relatives who constantly play it.

  • Thank you all (suckonthis9, Angel_in_a_Glass_Dress, tiffunny5, NeuroNeptunian, and Vigo) for your comments. This site is nice.

It truly helps people understand that they're not the only ones who feel the same way about something!

  • I'm a Christian, church every Sunday, bible study, prayer, the 9 yards, however, I can not stand religious music.

Hearing about a man being brutalized and beaten depresses me no matter who it is. The rest of the music is repetative, been there, done that, learned that, tell me something I don't know.

  • it's ok. i know my mom likes some hymns but she also values going to church and just enjoying silence so she can pray without being distracted.

plus if your dad is singing them... is it the music that's the issue or your dad's singing/humming?

  • Isn't ironic,
I'm a non-Christian Atheist and I don't mind SOME church music, particularly Southern Baptist Gospel.
