Is it normal that i am 26 and have never been checked for an std?

I'm 26 and it dawned on me the other day that i have never actually been checked, there is no obvious symptoms I would have an STD and i understand not all symptoms are visible, i am planning on getting checked this week. I just wanted to see how many other people have gone through life without getting tested?

Most sexually active people have gotten tested before this age. No good reason not to.

  • Donate blood and you get tested for free.

      • Yes. When you donate blood, they test it for dozens of things to insure it is safe to enter the blood supply. In the US, you cannot donate blood if you’ve had a tattoo or a blood transfusion etc within the past 6 months, because blood borne diseases will show up within those 6 months.

It depends on what you have been doing?

I’m 18 only have had a few partners very big on using condoms but I’m terrified of doctors dentists hospitals of any form and I’ve never been tested although it would be good too, I suggest it! It’s just that I’m a wimp

You should get yourself tested, unless of course, you're still a virgin! Many STD's have no symptoms and by the time you know you have an infection you could've spread it to other people and end up with permanent health problems.

It's part of being a grownup to be responsible about using protection and having tests whenever you've had sex with a new partner.

You should get tested after every unprotected partner, you could be catching and spreading all sorts but not know it.
Or you could use protection ..

I'm in my sixties, and I've never been tested.

But then I've only had sex with eight women in my lifetime, and all but two of those were long-term relationships with women who I knew weren't promiscuous. I did roll the dice with the other two women, since I knew they had got around, but nothing bad happened.

The tests are quick, easy, and widely available these days, so there's really not much of an excuse not to have one.
