Is it normal that i always regret drinking the next morning?

I have never really woken up from a night of drinking and thought, "that was fun!" I always get this feeling of embarrassment and usually spend the day trying to figure out what I did and how I acted. But i still love to get drunk and almost always get drunk rather than just a buzz. Is it normal?

  • You know, I find it extremely intriguing, & humorous that, out of 32 votes so far, 28 call this 'NORMAL', yet all but one of these comments are telling this person to get help and he may be an alcoholic. I've noticed in my short time on this planet, that I hear far more stories about being wasted than I ever did about not being wasted. I have also witnessed many stupid drunk moments. I don't know for sure, but, if one is to measure normal behavior by what the majority does, than I'd say after your night of binge drinking and ensuing recovery, what you're supposed to do is tell others who don't know you very well that they are wrong for drinking.

  • In relation to an earlier comment I also make notes throughout the night. Although they're usually along the lines of 'totally not drunk, completely in control of myself right now, stop worrying'. I'd find out later that I'd then gone straight on to get naked and run around the house covered in post in notes yelling 'MY LIFE LEAD ME TO THIS'.
-.-' I literally used to lie to myself

  • Yeah I get that too but I'm determined now to drink less

  • That kept happening to me too. I tried to stop drinking but i couldn't. I think it's the only way some of us can let off steam. Now I smoke weed instead and guess what... No more regrets, no more hangovers and it's so much cheaper. Although now my right arm aches, but thats another story...

  • If you're doing the same thing over and over again and waking up with regrets... maybe it's time to reevaluate your actions.

  • Know that feeling. Have you ever woken up knowing you've done something to someone and you are really struggling to work out what it is? I used to keep a pad of post-it notes and write down things as they were happening. Next day it'd be all like, "woofed at a cat", "started a revolution", "peed off a roof", "called a bus driver Squire", "called a bus driver Squirio", "called a bus driver Mr Squires", "called Mr Squires a bus driver", "told Katy she has a fat skull", "kissed someone's beard", "pretended to be Dutch", "touched balls with a guy", "drank something that was on fire", "drank out of someone's shoe", "bought someone's cousin", "called someone Vidal Sassoon", "stamped on a banana", "sang Happy Birthday, Mr. President", "forgot where I lived", "slept in a bush", "peed on a tramp by mistake", "stole someone's hat at a urinal", "played the piano on someone's fingers", "chased a rat", "signed someone's wedding book as Senor Hitler", "shrieked 'Death Be Upon You' at a poster of Westlife", "cried at an empty bus".

It's curious how the lines between self-destruction and fun can blur.
