Is it normal that i’m stronger than my older brother?

I’m a high school senior (girl) and my 20 year old brother has been home from college a couple weeks now. He’s always been skinny but I’ve noticed that my arms and legs are significantly thicker than his now (probably because of volleyball). I wanna bring it up somehow because i know that if the roles were reversed he wouldn’t shut up about it

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Pick him up. Establish dominance. Piss on his leg.

So you’re just trying to come up with a way to be mean spirited to your brother then?

Give him a hard time about it. That's what siblings are for. Continue to love him though. If you do it right, 30 years from now when you are my sister's age and my age, you will be best friends. There is something about blood and lots of years spent together growing up. My older brother is a jerk and purposefully moved a thousand miles away. My younger brother has been in prison for something BAD. But my youngest sister who was too young to do much with when we were younger is one of my best friends. I wish you many years of teasing each other and warm best friendship.

  • Thanks guys. I just had a friend comment on it when we were watching tv. He was really nice about it. Said he noticed but didn’t say anything. Now he’s asking me for gym advice. We’re gonna go work out together tomorrow. Problem is now he wants me to carry him everywhere which is not gonna happen XD

As petty sibling rivalry goes, this is pettier than most, so props for that. 🙄

If he's as immature as you and as dickish as most twenty-year-old guys, then you calling him a wimp would probably result in him saying you're obviously just getting fat.

Nahh dude that is not a good test of strength. I've been beat by 160 pound Asian dudes with short arms and massive forearms even when they could not hold a candle to me in any of the big lifts.

Same here I was the strongest in my school at bench press but I used to get beat by girls at arm wrestling

Haha well chief what's the secret for the bench? It's my weakest lift of the three :(

I wasn't even that strong I was just like one of the first to start lifting, I remember benching something like 60kg for sets of ten in the shitty school gym when I was like 16 and no one else could even do it for 1 rep, even a kickboxer who was a lot bigger and would have kicked my ass easy.

Wow nice chief it took me too long to get to that point lol I don't remember exactly but for 16 that's very good. Now did you quit lifting after that or what happened? How good were you at your peak? Whenever that was.

    What does it matter anyway?

Doesn't mean you're stronger than him. Bodybuilders have big muscles but powerlifters are usually a lot stronger at a lower weight

Yesssss good point chief. Also depends how strength is measured and leverage differences ie. Long arms for deadlifts, short arms for bench ect.

Yeah there are a lot of people who can lift heavy weights but have no idea how to use their strength in other situations. Look at deontay wilder for example, he's built like a toothpick but knocks out huge muscular dudes for fun

Yeah fighters are an example of skill verses strength. I could squat, bench and deadlift more than almost any of them but I suck at fighting and would get beat to shit even by the tiny guys.
