Infiltrate a high security location, rob or kidnap someone famous or with a lot of money, tamper with evidences at a police station just to name a few. They don't care about a random person. There's no point.
Are you for real? It's a fucking movie. And even, he's using his goggles inside his own house, not to kidnap people.
Are you looking for an excuse to be afraid or something?
People do not see you in the dark. And they don't usually use night goggles to enter random citizen homes.
If you go there people can enter with a chainsaw, a bazooka, a flamethrower, a pack of alligators, anything is possible with "if". But you're just being stupid by creating situation that will not happen.
If you want to live being afraid of everything, it's your choice. Don't expect people to be like you.
Burglars enter people's homes all the time and I don't see how purchasing a $300 pair of night vision goggles is that outrageous or unusual. Stealthier than using a flashlight and tripping over things.
Is it normal that I’m 19 yo, and TERRIFIED of sleeping in the dark?

Just bringing up night vision goggles because you're misinforming OP about others not being able to see him in the dark.
