Is it normal that I’m 19 years old and STILL afraid of the dark? I’ve been afraid my entire life. I just have these terrifying recurring thoughts like “what if I open my eyes and someone’s standing there” or “what if I’m sleeping and someone touches my feet” and suddenly all The crimes and horror movies I’ve watched/learnt about replays over and over in my head and for the past month it’s gotten to the point where I sleep with my regular ceiling light on every night, sacrificing my fan and ac

    Get a night light, and/or a therapist.

That's totally normal! Use a night light, or leave the closet light on with the closet door cracked. You'll feel better!

There is no point. If someone wants to get you they can do it at any time like when you're out walking on an empty street, they could be following you around all the time and you have no idea then suddenly BAAM.

The dark is your friend. You can't see people in the dark but they can't see you either.
There's nothing to be afraid about. You're afraid about non existent threats. I've slept in the dark my whole life and nothing ever happened. So do most of people.
You should be fine. Try to listen to music in the dark at first if it reassures you.

I used to make them, we could get them quite cheap!

Night vision goggles are pretty expensive. There's no chance a person willing to get some will use it to get in the house of a random nobody.

What other reason would they get them if not for creepy home invasions?

Infiltrate a high security location, rob or kidnap someone famous or with a lot of money, tamper with evidences at a police station just to name a few. They don't care about a random person. There's no point.
