Is it normal that human chewing noise grosses me out but animals' doesn't?

I watched a video of a cat eating fish the other day, I actually found it soothing. I normally am not interested in ASMR videos but this cat eating just makes me feel happy for it.

  • It's normal. Most people are not nearly as grossed out by animal poop either.

  • I like watching animals eat, because when they eat, THEY EAT. They are so mindful with their food and nothing else distracts them, unlike with human beings, who talk with their mouth full and who need a mobile device and with their annoying clanking utensils.I agree, i like that more than the nasally noises humans make.

I was told I was smacking when my lips where shut. Slowing down helped decrease the noise.

My dog is always licking and I find it repulsive. As is listening to people chew.

  • I am the exact same.

I just flipped on my sibling for chewing gum with their mouth wide open and slapping it against their cheeks.

I think it’s cute when my dog slurps up water as loud as she can.

But I don’t know why it bothers me when people chew loud but not pets.

Is it because we think humans can help themselves while pets can’t?

I totally feel you... and I am thinking about the same thing. I'm thinking maybe it's also because they just have a much stronger need and demand on food, while that for human is a relatively smaller aspect of life so we are a little fussy about it?
